What do you do at Rosemont?

Senior and Founding Pastor since 1967.

Tell us about yourself:

I grew up here in LaGrange and graduated from LaGrange College with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. For 32 years, I served as a bi-vocational pastor. Those were years of tremendous blessing. The Lord moved powerfully in my experiences in the secular business arena as well as through the thriving congregation of Rosemont. After retiring from the textile industry in 1993, I assumed the role of full-time Senior Pastor at Rosemont. God has moved greatly among us and I am honored to be a part of His work here.

How did you come to know Christ?

I accepted Christ at the age of 13, following the strong Christian example of my father. At 21, soon after the birth of our first child, I realized that God wanted to use me to further His kingdom. That’s when I truly turned my life over to Him.

Favorite Things:

• I love being with my wife and soul mate, Marion.
• My three grown children and their spouses, 11 grandchildren, and great grandson are my pride and joy. I love spending time with them all.
• Fishing, boating, and carpentry projects.

Additional Information:

• Max has served in many capacities in the Southern Baptist Convention, including a five year term on the Georgia Executive Committee as well as chairing multiple committees in our local Troup County Baptist Association.
• Max has served on many charity boards and other local committees promoting unity and social change in our community.
