Frequently Asked Questions

What is The Joshua Project?
The Joshua Project is the title of our capital stewardship campaign. This campaign is seeking to raise gifts and 3-year commitments that are over and above our regular tithes and offerings.

Why Are We In a Campaign?
We are raising funds to pay for the current building upgrades and additional space to accommodate our growth . By raising additional funds, we are able to protect our budgeted programs, ministries, and missions initiatives. We will also save a tremendous amount of money in interest costs by not borrowing the amounts that we raise.

What Will Be the Benefits?
All members of our church family, from the youngest to the oldest, will benefit from the renovations and expansion. In addition, this will enable all our facilities to exhibit the beauty that we experience through our fellowship; which, in turn, helps us welcome new people. In sum, being good stewards of our facilities will enable us to fulfill our mission as a church.

What is Included and What Will All This Cost?

Phase I
Includes additional land purchase, a new roof to aesthetically match the building upgrades, exterior stucco-type upgrade, and steeple refinishing for the existing worship center for an estimated cost of $515,000.

Phase II
Includes the development of a viable worship center in the existing fellowship hall and will cover costs of aesthetics, furnishings, audio/visual equipment, acoustical treatments, lighting, and professional design fees for $660,000.

Phase III
Includes the renovation of the existing worship center and will cover costs of acoustical treatments, lighting, aesthetics, audio/visual upgrades, a new exterior sign, and professional design fees for $250,000.

Phase IV
Includes the construction of an educational facility to house a growing and thriving Sunday School ministry for an estimated $1,500,000.

Phase V
Includes additional parking areas, a safer driveway entrance onto campus, landscaping, gym enhancements, and development of recreational areas such as sports fields, walking track, and playgrounds for an estimated cost of $575,000.

The total cost is $3.5 million.

What Are the Goals Of the Campaign?
The primary goal is that this campaign experience will renew our faith in Christ and renew our devotion to serve Him through our church's many ministries and missions. A secondary goal is that our unique faith heritage will be shared with the community in which we worship, witness, and minister; and that this heritage will be passed on to succeeding generations.

Who Are the Campaign Leaders?
The Steering Committee is led by Russell Cleveland, Executive Director, Phyllis Whitney, Campaign Manager, and Gene and Kaye Fryer, Leadership Campaign Directors.

What Will I Be Asked To Do?
You will be asked to pray about your gift and respond to God's leadership in determining the amount and method of your gift. You may give an outright gift or make a commitment to give over a three-year period, beginning December 2, 2007.

Will My Gift Be Confidential?
Every gift and commitment will be confidential. Once members complete their commitment cards, they will place them in privacy envelopes that will only be opened by the church's Treasurer.

What Types of Gifts Are Given?
Members can choose how best to give the commitment that God has led them to make. Cash is the most common gift. Stocks, mutual fund shares, real estate, life insurance policies and personal property can also be given. The campaign's gift acceptance policy will apply to all non-cash gifts.

When Will I Make My Commitment?
Those who choose to make their commitment early will do so at a Leadership Commitment Event on Thursday, November 8. Contact the church office if you would like to commit early. The congregation will bring their commitments to church on Sunday, November 18, for Commitment Sunday.

What Else Do I Need to Know?
Beginning October 21 and continuing through November 11, all ages will study the Lifestyle Stewardship Bible study developed for our campaign. Each Sunday will also include sermons, testimonies, and prayers focused on The Joshua Project.

What If I Have Other Questions?
See if your question is answered on other Joshua Project pages on this website. If not, send you question to adamcamp@rosemontchurch.org. Also, please watch for several items that will come to your home in the mail: the Project Brochure, Campaign Newsletters and an Invitation to the A Joshua Project Event on Sunday, November 18. You will receive a phone call for your reservations.

What Can I Do To Help?
Our campaign has a lot of work that needs to be done. The more people who volunteer, the lighter the work for everyone. Also, the more involved a congregation becomes in its campaign, the greater the results they achieve. If you have not yet been asked to help, contact Phyllis Whitney, Campaign Manager, and she will help you find the best work for you to do.

Are We Going To Hear a Lot About Money?
Money is a part of our lives, but only a part. We will consider together the concept of Lifestyle Stewardship which focuses on our lives, our values, and our priorities. The goal of Lifestyle Stewardship is to give a gift that has value and meaning for the giver that is far greater than the amount of money involved.
