How to Give
The Joshua Project campaign will result in members’ decisions to give in a variety of ways. The most common gift will be cash, either as a one-time gift or a gift spread out over three years. When giving your Joshua Project gift, write an additional check for the amount of your gift and designate on your check “The Joshua Project.” This will allow us to deposit your Joshua Project contribution into the building fund and also record this contribution accurately.
Some members will choose to contribute financial assets such as stocks or mutual fund shares. If these assets have gained value since they were purchased, it is best to transfer ownership of these assets directly to the church. By doing this transfer a member will escape paying capital gains tax on the assets and thereby be able to give a larger contribution.
If a member’s gift includes real estate, this can be accepted in accordance with the campaign’s gift acceptance policy. If you would like more information about this kind of gift, please contact church administrator Hilda Railey.
Gifts of personal property such as jewelry, art work, and collectibles are best valued and sold by the member with the proceeds then given to the church.
